THE ROLE

Joining a World Class team of Control and Electronics engineers working on Hardware, Software and Controls solutions in Automotive Hybridization applications. The senior hybrid controlsystem engineer in this position will be responsible to analyze, design and specify hybrid systems control strategies for our hybrid projects. Using requirements management tools, the hybrid control system engineer will support the system, software and calibration teams with the project targets regarding fuel economy, emissions and drivability, as well as functional development at the powertrain system and VCU/HCU controller level. With the current Chinese market strategy, focus is mainly on mild hybrids (P0), PHEV’s (P0P4, P1P3, P2) and full electric vehicles (BEV).

Key Responsibilities

• Focus on transforming customer requirements into hybrid control system requirements

• Transform hybrid control system requirements into software requirements

• Perform system D-FMEA

• Integration of functional, diagnostics and safety requirements

• Specification, development and implementation of advanced hybrid control system strategies

• Design test cases and test vectors for control strategy verification using MiL/HiL

• Support the software team to analyse and review the implemented control strategies

• Plan, manage and lead the project specific hybrid control system design deliverables Everyday tasks will include:

• Hybrid control strategy design and specification

• D-FMEA and functional safety integration

• System and software requirements review and analysis

• Support to hybrid control system verification and calibration

• Customer interfacing for technical project discussions

• Support development of future project opportunities through client interaction and proposal generation

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Skills

• Experience of hybrid control system requirements capturing and managing • At least 5+ years Hybrid Control System development experience for

Engine/Hybrid/Transmission management systems (EMS/HCU/VCU/TCU/BMS)

• Strong knowledge of powertrain architectures and hybrid powertrain control strategies (torque management, energy management, hybrid system management, diagnostics and safety)

• Strong analytical approach to develop controls systems in an automotive environment

• Strong experience in use of model-based design tools (Rhapsody and Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, Ascet, etc.)

• Experience of automotive rapid prototype control system development

• Experienced in use of requirements management tools

• Experienced in diagnostics and functional safety

• Languages:

• Very fluent in English (written and spoken) for intra-company communication with EU/US project teams

• Chinese is a plus

Knowledge

• Experience with Mathworks Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow is required.

• Experience with hybrid control system strategies development is mandatory

• Experience with D-FMEA is required

• Qualified to degree level with technical background in hybrid system design and development

• Good knowledge of rapid prototyping control systems

• Detailed understanding of the overall vehicle powertrain system is mandatory

• Experience with ETAS INCA/MDA, Vector CANape/CANalyzer/CANoe is a plus

• Strong knowledge of SW development process and related standards (including A-Spice) is required

• Strong knowledge of system level safety requirements and related standards (including ISO 26262) is required

• Literate in IT systems (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

• Knowledge of budget and project delivery control
